About

From 1890 - 1980 life expectancy increased by 30 years in the U.S. From 1980 - 2000, the era of modern medicine, life expectancy rose by only 7 years. If we want to see further advances in life expectancy and better quality of life then another Public Health revolution is needed. The future of improving healthcare will require (1) Chronic Disease Management and (2) Increasing Access to Care.

I am passionate about healthcare, telemedicine, public health and teaching/mentoring!  My goal is to introduce innovative technology to critical healthcare gaps, and support a new wave of novel Public Health efforts.

Specifically, I am excited about Teledermatology as a means to increase productivity and access to the rural, uninsured, and vulnerable populations in the U.S.  Incredible mentors have guided me to where I am today and I hope to do the same for the next generation!

This blog is an extension of my desire to teach, mentor and share knowledge with peers.

I will be graduating from medical school in 2012. As an undergraduate, I received degrees in Computer Science and Neurobiology while working on gnarly projects like Remote Chronic Medical Management (TeleWatch) at Hopkins-APL.

Specific areas of interest:

AAD Teledermatology Pilot Program Poster (ATA Annual Conference Presentation - San Jose 2012)

Gigapixel Photography as a new model for melanoma surveillance, see GigaPan.org (editorial submitted).

New models of Medical Care.  (My Article on KevinMD)

Developing technology to address critical areas of hospital inefficiency. (My Article on KevinMD)

TeleMedicine as a means to expand medical access for developing nations. (TED talks inspiration Dr Hans Rosling)
